Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST)

The Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (F.A.S.T.) test is designed to determine student undertanding of ELA and Math content. F.A.S.T. testing occurs in grades 3-10 for ELA and 3-8 for Mathematics.

There are three Progress Monitoring (PM) windows for FAST:

  • PM 1 –Designed to provide a baseline score for teachers to track student progress of the B.E.S.T. Standards.

  • PM2 – Provides a mid-year score to compare to the baseline score from PM 1.

  • PM3 – Final administration that provides a summative score that will accurately measure student mastery of the B.E.S.T. Standards for that school year.

Test Format

All three Progress Monitoring Tests will take place on the computer as an adaptive test. This means that test items may become progressively harder as students successfully respond to items and easier if students answer more questions incorrectly.
