The Financial Literacy club is being established to offer students an opportunity to learn about personal finances, savings options, and to participate in the Stock Market Challenge.  Topics that will be presented include, but are not limited to: 

·                     day trading vs. long term investing 

·                     compounding interest 

·                     stocks, mutual funds, bonds, ETFs, traditional and high-yield savings accounts, and CDs 

·                     stock market, impact on the economy and individual, the up and down cycles 

·                     P/E, volatility, news, short margin buying 

 

The Florida Stock Market Challenge is a state-wide challenge in which students are provided an opportunity to simulate trading $100,000 in a brokerage type account. Trades are conducted in near real-time.  As this is a competition, there are prizes offered for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place regionally and statewide.
